How to Write a Sales/Elevator Pitch

Updated over 4 months ago

Any business discussion, whether by email, phone or other media, needs to address a few points:

  • The business details of the company contacted

  • The challenges the contacted company faces

  • How your product/service can solve/help aid those issues

  • Questions and answers on both sides

  • Next steps on the collaboration

Now, to be able to get through all those stages, you need to convince your prospect that you will not waste his time, but rather bring him something of value for his business. For this reason, a sales pitch works best because it represents a short speech that should persuade and spark the interest of your prospect in what your business does. This first impression is your business card and will stay with your prospect, in the long run, being able to easily make or break the deal.

To pitch your business to someone you will need:

  • Your name, job, company

  • A little context/what makes you unique

  • Reason for connecting

  • Call-to-action

Also,

  • Keep it short, clear and memorable.

  • Make sure you use a polite yet friendly greeting prior to introducing your sales pitch, to ease the tension.

  • As a great tip, use the name of your prospect several times throughout the discussion, to maintain a more personal relationship.

  • The scope is to make your prospect want to learn more about you/your business.
